MaMHCA Certification Programs

MaMHCA offers two levels of clinical supervision certification designed to strengthen supervisory practice, enhance client safety, and promote excellence in the counseling profession across Massachusetts.

MaMHCA Certified Clinical Supervisor (MCCS)

The MCCS is a comprehensive Massachusetts-focused 12 CEU Certified Clinical Supervisor program available to all Massachusetts Approved Supervisors (as defined in 262 CMR 2) in good standing.

MaMHCA Advanced Certified Clinical Supervisor (MACCS)

The MACCS designation is available to MaMHCA Member LMHCs who wish to demonstrate advanced commitment to supervision excellence and professional leadership. Members may log into their profile to view detailed eligibility information.

Supervision

Supervision is the artful integration of clinical skills, education, and experience. It ensures the integrity of clinical services to the client while developing competence in the supervisee. It provides the structure and framework necessary for learning how to apply knowledge, theory, and clinical procedures in direct work with clients.

Clinical Supervision is the bedrock upon which high-quality clinical work and consumer safety are built and maintained.

Training and certification of approved supervisors is a national trend in mental health counseling. Currently, 72% of states require training of LMHC/LPC supervisors. Quality supervision also supports the growth and development of clinical staff, fosters collaboration, and enhances job satisfaction.

Why Take MaMHCA’s Supervision Certification?

MaMHCA’s Certified Clinical Supervision Program reflects and expands upon best-practice research in supervision training conducted by the American Association of State Counseling Boards. Quality supervision is at the heart of client and patient safety and strong clinical outcomes.
