Teleplay: Embracing Online Sessions

VENUE CHANGE - Now on ZOOM!

This workshop will provide clinicians with a “cheat sheet” resource guide of over 500 telehealth activities. Many clinicians report anxiety over providing telehealth treatment to young children and their caregivers. Research supports the efficacy of play therapy via telehealth, but providers seem unsure about implementing it. There are children and families that find it easier to use teleplay to process trauma than face-to-face sessions. This workshop will explore how young children use telehealth to enhance their relationship with the clinician. Participants will learn not just how to use teleplay but how to love it. This workshop will demystify the process of how to play on the screen and conceptualize teleplay as a better option for some clients, not just a fall back during a crisis.

Presenter: Katherine Katie Thomas

Assistant Director of Field Placement at William James University, Katie spent  the past several years as a play therapist working with young children and families. She developed a telehealth resource guide over the past three years.
