Psychedelics: What are they? What do they do?
Description:
This workshop will discuss the differences among classic psychedelics and other hallucinogens, including natural and synthetic versions, historical uses as medicine, impact on the body and brain, potential problems, misuse, recent hallucinogen research as potential for medical uses, and review the legal issues.
Many of the natural hallucinogenic substances have long been a part of various cultures (indigenous, native) of many countries. Legalities will be reviewed along with current research regarding efficacy of natural and synthetic forms, as well as current research examining the potential as medicine, especially for depression.
