Description: 

The most consequential problem with AI in clinical practice is not that it fails dramatically, but that it succeeds in ways that quietly foreclose what therapy actually requires.

Grounded in philosophy and clinical theory, this presentation explores how to use these tools to sharpen clinical thinking without ceding the ground that makes relational work worth doing. How to orient AI toward staying with what is unresolved rather than resolving it prematurely.

For clinicians new to these technologies, as well as those who have only yet used them as tools for reducing administrative burden.


Our Presenter: Bret Schermerhorn, LMHC

About our presenter:

Bret Schermerhorn is the author of Holding and Holding Back: The Use of AI in the Relational Psychotherapies. The book attempts to address the issue of how to use emerging technologies in the field of Artificial Intelligence as more than just ways to reduce administrative load. His work addresses the philosophical and theoretical concerns of what happens when we become over reliant on technologies, the practical uses of how AI can support clinical growth and development, and the precise skills we need to use these tools in a manner which yields more precise and theoretically grounded clinicians.
