Description (virtual workshop on zoom):

Mental health clinicians often find themselves helping people navigate conflict — in relationships, families, workplaces, schools, and systems. This interactive workshop introduces the basics of mediation and dispute resolution and explores how mediation skills can help people navigate conflict more effectively. Through real-life examples and experiential activities, participants will explore conflict styles, communication patterns, and negotiation concepts.

This workshop will combine lecture, experiential activities, group discussion, and practical case examples. Participants will engage in interactive exercises designed to help them experience different approaches to conflict and communication firsthand.

Didactic portions of the workshop will introduce foundational mediation and dispute resolution concepts, including conflict styles, core principles of mediation, communication patterns, and interest-based negotiation. Real-world family, workplace, and interpersonal conflict examples will be used to help participants connect concepts to clinical practice and everyday interactions.
